Breaking the chain, feeling the gain. Now I'm rising. Open the gate, never too late. No hiding Wings open wide, trusting my God, ready to take off, ready to take off Someday. I know I'm moving in the right way. Oh, one day I keep praying.
Speaker 2:I keep praying. Hey y'all, welcome to another episode of Faithful Fin Talk. I'm your host, wontrelle LeVette, and if you are new here, I'd like to welcome you to the best podcast that you're ever going to come across. If you're not new here, I'd like to welcome you to the best podcast that you're ever going to come across. And, not to mention, if you're not new here, don't start judging Like. Take a listen to other episodes and that way you can get a feel and see what Faithful Fan Talk is all about. I'm Wontra LeVette, your host and I combine faith and finance and testimony together in this podcast. Not sure if you're in a position like me, but we are on episode 54. So I've been doing this for some time. We did a relaunch on episode 50. So if you want to take it to episode 50 and check out the relaunch, the resurrection of the podcast, then please be my guest. I think you will find it very heartfelt to know that I have resurrected this podcast after starting it two, two and a half years ago or three years ago or something like that, but just so much so that I can talk about what God does in my life and also show you guys the growth that I've been going through and to since, walking with Christ and just letting God use me. This has been one journey. So the title of our episode today is Divine Power, real Promises.
Speaker 2:The scripture focus that I'm focused on in today's episode is 2 Peter 1. 2 Peter has three chapters, very short book, doesn't take long for anybody to go and read. But when I was doing my research and trying to find understanding of second Peter because the last episode was first Peter one and first Peter one has five chapters, very short book as well Um, these both Peters are letters and they're both authors, and so the author of second Peter, um, basically, was kind of like on his dying bed, but kind of was not, but he was kind of in his last days, but he was just being real, more strict about how he was saying and letting us know what we already have, which is divine power and real promises. So the scripture is Second Peter one, you don't have to go to 3 or anything else. The tagline for us, of course, is real stories, real scripture and real growth, because that's exactly what this is.
Speaker 2:As I'm stepping deeper back into this comeback, not only do I welcome you into my space, I welcome you into my testimony, I welcome you back into my life. I'm showing you guys that God is real. Okay, I know sometimes we want to be wondering where you at, but God is definitely real and I don't go a day without letting him show up for me or me trying to show up for him or her. However, you try to identify your guy because sometimes you know he's sexist he can be either or so I like to just let God take over and take over today. So that's what I'm asking, even for this episode Like, because when I did my research I'm like OK, god, what are you talking to me about? I know I have real divine power and I have real promises, but what are they? What do they look like? What do they look like?
Speaker 2:So, the last episode, we walked through the fire, we went through grace and then, of course, in the beginning, we resurrect the episode and now God is calling us to grow, because, second Peter one, it's not just the chapter, it's a charge, it's a call to maturity, a call to multiply, a call to become, and that's where I'm at, in my stages right now. I'm in my becoming stages and I feel like this word today is for somebody who's been feeling like they're stuck between saved and still struggling. Baby, don't worry, you're in the right place. You're in the middle of the stretch and the stretch is also holy. Okay, you don't have to worry about it, I'm stretching with you. I know what it feels like. I'm in that same stretch.
Speaker 2:So in second Peter one, verse three and four in the new living translation, it says by his divine power, god has given us everything we need for a living, a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. By means of his marvelous glory and excellence, and because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. Okay, there go. There go some promises. He has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world's corruption caused by human desires.
Speaker 2:Come on y'all. Is we in a war, or is we not in a war right now? Well, by the time this episode come out, I'm quite sure the world would have been passed over. But somewhere in this world we are in the world, and human is always causing corruption Because we, like, have that desire to be naughty, to be bad. Who doesn't like a bad boy or a bad girl? Nobody likes a little softie. But you know, we have this divine power, these promises for God. We have this that we can escape the world's corruption, we can escape the naughtiness of the world. I mean, not every day do you want to be a bad person Like, come on right.
Speaker 2:So divine power versus human pressure, let's pause right here, because this part changed the way that I view growth. It doesn't say God will give you everything you need. It says he has already given it to you by his divine power, not by your hustle, not by your perfection, not by checking every spiritual box, like I said in the last episode, but by knowing him. By knowing God, I mean I'm talking waking up with God. I don't know God like I don't know God, like God know me. You know they say God know you that he created you when you was in your mother womb. He know every hair on your body. I don't know God like God know me. So my job is to get with God every day, not trying to hustle, not trying to out hustle the next, not try to do what the next person is doing. But my job is to get with God every day so I can learn about His divine power. Now that was big for me, that was super huge for me, because I'm growing and I'm constantly growing and I want to know. But I've got to grow with God, right. So that was pretty cool. But by knowing Him, that hit me deep because for years I thought I had to earn my way and to grow. But God says you grow by grace and not by grind. We've been talking grace, grace, grace, grace, every episode, and that's because grace is real.
Speaker 2:The season I felt spiritual stuck was not that long ago. There was literally seasons, not just one season. We got four seasons in a year. There was not just one season I felt spiritually stuck. But there were seasons where I felt stuck.
Speaker 2:I was praying, I was fasting a little, I was learning about fasting, because everybody fasting is not the same, everybody praying is not the same. Showing up for everybody, showing up for everybody, but I wasn't showing up for myself. In the inside I felt dry, like nothing was moving, and I asked God. I said why do I feel so distant when I'm doing everything right? Why do I feel like I'm not where I need to be, I'm not where I'm supposed to be. I'm not the person that you say I am or you call me to be. And God was like you're so funny. He's like you're trying to grow in your own strength. You're weak. You're weak without me. So when I already gave you the seed, you just need to stay connected.
Speaker 2:It wasn't about doing more, it was about believing more. Believing that what he planted in me was already enough and all I needed to do was water it with trust. And how can I water it with trust if I don't get with God every day? Like, come on y'all, I'm dropping gems, I'm dropping notes. This is a serious thing, because sometimes we, always we can yell out God, this God, that Jesus, this Jesus, that the Quran, this, the Quran, that Allah, this, allah, that. Like, come on y'all. If we're not getting with our creator every day, is we really watering the seed that he planted in us? Is we really doing that? I don't think so. I'm only knowing because by experience here I am trying to out-hustle myself out, trying to do things, trying to make certain type of money, trying to do all it is, and God, like I didn't tell you to do that. I didn't tell you to think that far ahead. I didn't tell you to put these things into place. I didn't tell you to do that. I said get with me on a daily basis so I can give you your daily bread, okay.
Speaker 2:So, second Peter, one five through seven, it says in view of all of this, make every effort to respond to God's promises. Okay, if you got your notebooks, this is a good time to take notes right here, because this verse, right here, is really something that's so important and I went over it time and time again Because if God is promising you real promises and real divine power, you got to know what those real promises and divine power look like. Right? So it says supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control and self-control, with patience, endurance and patient endurance with godliness and godliness with brotherly affection and brotherly affection with the love for everyone. That's a whole growth chart. Right there, god is saying your faith is in the foundation, but maturity comes through layering, layering. What did he say? He said a lot.
Speaker 2:Ok, it's not just what you believe, it's how you build. You cannot build a house with just the sticks and the cement. You can't. You're going to need more stuff. You're going to need drywall, you're going to need concrete. You're going to need bricks, you're going to need shoot all kind of stuff. What else you need, chris? All kind of things. You're going to need all kind of stuff. What else you need, chris? You can't just build a house Like, don't come, bring me no boxable house, because one thing I know for sure is if that wind blow too hard, baby, it's gonna blow off my house, like you got to have a full on foundation, like it's so serious, right? So it's not just you know. How you believe is how you build on your belief. You know what I'm saying. So let me speak to you.
Speaker 2:If you are in transition, like I am, I'm in transition. You're no longer who you were, but you're not fully who you're becoming. You're learning self-control, but still slip up Sometimes. You're practicing patience, but still snap when life gets hard. You love people, but you're tired of always being a strong one. Let me remind you that's me, that's you, that's all of us. But God sees us becoming. He still calls us chosen.
Speaker 2:Growth doesn't always feel glamorous. Sometimes it's silent. It's quiet, it's in the dark. Sometimes because your light is too shiny, it shines too bright. Sometimes you have to do the work in the dark, but that is still proof that God is working. Okay. So growing pains are real. I was literally in a season of growing, growing pains.
Speaker 2:Trying to rush your spiritual growth is like microwaving a gourmet meal. It might look done, but, baby, it's cold in the middle. If you or anybody else had a microwavable meal and you put it on what? Three minutes, four minutes? And then you go check your food and you're like it's still cold in the middle and that's because it didn't simmer through all the way. A boss of mine was so funny, is that?
Speaker 2:Not too long ago, a couple or a couple years ago, a boss of mine taught me how to warm food in the microwave. I gave him some food and I was like he'll put my food on three minutes. He was like three minutes and I'm like, okay, for some reason I felt like the food took longer than three minutes and I said why did the food take so long? He said because I put the times in increments. I was like increments. He was like, yeah, I did it 30 seconds at a time, so your food can be cooked all the way through. I never thought of that. I never thought, well, if I take my time and slow process, cook my food even in the microwave, if I do 30 seconds at a time, 20 seconds at a time, that when I actually reached the three minute mark time or four minute mark time, that my food would be done in full, complete, like around in the middle and stuff. So I thought that was pretty cool.
Speaker 2:Okay, so God's growth plan takes time because it tastes better when it's slow cooked and trust and it really do. I have to get up every day and I have to trust God. I have to get up every day and I have to trust God. I have to trust God more than I trust myself, because I don't have it all figured out. So I have to trust someone or something that has it all figured out, that created this entire universe. I have to trust something that's bigger than me. Okay, so give yourself grace. I'm giving myself grace as I marinate in this process and I want you to give yourself grace as you marinate in this process, because faith is always better over frustration.
Speaker 2:This chapter reminded me that legacy isn't just about what you leave behind, but it's about what you live through. Levette legacy isn't built on my wins. It's built on the wisdom I've gathered in the waiting, each layer of growth, self-control, patience, godliness. Is it just for me? It's not just for me, it's for my kids, it's for my community, it's for Faithful Fin Talk, it's for the generation that comes after me, because we don't just pass down promises, we pass down process. So funny, I'm going to leave you guys with this story.
Speaker 2:There was a package that got delivered to my house the other day. It was a big package. I had got a notification on my phone and it say you got a package to pick up. I went and I pick up that package and it was a big package. I had got a notification on my phone and it say you got a package to pick up. I went and I pick up that package and it was a big box. I brought that box into my house and I popped that box open and when I brought that package out of that box it was a big, nice coach bag. I mean big, it was a nice coach bag. And you know I looked up and I said, oh, thank you God, because I know I didn't order no coach bag. And you know I looked up and I said, oh, thank you God, because I know I didn't order no coach bag, but it had my unit number on there, but it didn't have my name on it. It didn't have my name on it and normally when a package come it normally has the person name and their unit number on there, so you can probably take the package back to whatever unit it came from. But this package had my address and my unit on it, but it didn't have my name on it. But it wasn't my package. And I was like, ooh, thank you Lord, somebody love me because I received a nice coach bag.
Speaker 2:Something told me not to take the tags off of it. Something told me not to undress that bag in fully. I don't know what it was, but something told me not to do so. Because the next day the neighbor wrote a note on my door and said hey, I had a package delivered to your house by accident because our numbers units was mixed up. He's like I got this package, it's for my wife and it's her birthday. Would you be so kindly to return that package? And probably the old me, old old me probably be like heck, no, this package came from me. Like what, thank you, lord. Like you lose you snooze Like uh-uh. Brother, baby, I'm sorry, but the God in me was so relieved that I didn't even take the tags off the package. I didn't remove the paper out of it, or nothing. And the God in me was so happy that I could't even take the tags off the package. I didn't remove the paper out of it, or nothing. And the God in me was so happy that I could return the package to its original sender. I wrote that man back and I said hey, yes, it's your neighbor. I got your package, you know. The only thing that's damaged is the box itself, because I thought it was mine. But the package is fully intact and I'll leave it in the office for you to receive and pick up your package.
Speaker 2:And I put in a message too. I made sure I put as a Christian, you know, because sometimes I was going back and forth Am I a believer, am I a Christian? Am I this and that? And something right there told me said no, speak loud, speak boldly in who you are. And I am a Christian. I am, I believe in God, I believe in Jesus Christ, I'm a Christian, I've been baptized twice. And they say they know who you are and they know who you represent by the fruit that you, that you pass on Right. So I put that in the text. I say, yeah, as a Christian, I am honored to give you your package back.
Speaker 2:And so the neighbor was like he sent the message back. He said, oh my God, you don't know how appreciative I am of this. I am. This has really truly blessed me, because people, normally somebody else, wouldn't never gave it back. He was like I'm truly honored that God has touched your heart to give it back and that right there let me know that God was doing something in my life that told me right there that when the package come for me, I'm not going to have to give it back. Nobody's going to come for it, it's going to have my name on it, it's going to be addressed to me and it's going to be for me and it's going to be from, it's going to be mine, and whatever package that be, I'm able to pass that down to my kids.
Speaker 2:So I end up telling my daughter the story you know, just so she can have that in her heart to know like there is good people out here in this world and I want to be one of those Christians that represent what God is doing in my life and I want people to see that all Christians is not, you know, out here doing crazy stuff. Some of us really is out here trying to get right and be a representation of what God want us to be. And no, I'm not perfect, I would never be perfect. Come at me the wrong way. I'm quite sure you're going to get slapped. I'm quite sure I'm going to handle things in a different way, but every day I'm trying to handle things in a more respectful way, like what would Jesus do? You know what I'm saying, but he wasn't no punk. He wasn't no punk. You couldn't bully him and I feel the same way, you know, but it just goes a long way.
Speaker 2:So I had to share that story with you guys. So tell me your growth layer, okay, cause I'm definitely in a growth season. Like I said, you come at me the wrong way. You never know what's going to happen. Watch what you say to me, because trust and believe. I'm not Jesus, I'm human. I'm still a sinner and things can go left. So let's talk about it.
