Juantrell Lovette:

Let's talk about wealth. Let's talk about greed. Let's talk being broke, living in poverty. Let's talk about black. Let's talk about white. Let's talk about how we still fight for our rights. Let's talk government, sex games and drugs. Let's talk about God. Let's talk about love. Let's discuss our feelings.

Juantrell Lovette:

Hey y'all, welcome to Bless To Be Us. I'm your cousin in Christ, Juantrell Lovette, and this is Buji Bible Study. If you are new here, i'd like to welcome you to the number one Bible Study class that you will ever come across. And if you are not new here, you already know how we get down as we dive into the Bible and read a chapter a week. Now you can dive into the Bible as many times as you like. You can simply pick up your Bible and read as many chapters as you choose to.

Juantrell Lovette:

I myself just like to make it easy for those who do not dive into the Bible much or who wants to learn about a relationship with God but just don't know how. I make it easy for you and that is why I am related through Christ so that I could do a job here on earth, giving back the best way that I can. My purpose is to solely follow God and to allow Him to use me every day that I give breath. So I'm very thankful and honored to be here and have this platform that I've designed and created for my beautiful cousins, who I'm related to through Christ. I know that reading the Bible sometimes can not be ideal, and I love the fact that I'm able to go into the Bible and dive into the Bible using my Bible tracker and getting an understanding of the stories in the Bible, since they're so important and vital for our lives, to understand what Jesus did for us or what God is speaking to us about individually. Since we all can have a relationship with God, i see it's no harm for us to actually come together in the best way that we possibly can through faith, and treat each other with love, like God would want us to do, and just be a helping hand to each other the best way that we can.

Juantrell Lovette:

I ain't gonna do too much cheater-chat, but if you want to check out any episode before this, go ahead and do so. We're on episode 47, so we've been doing this for some time, and the episode that we're getting into today, actually I went over it in week 8. So today's title for our class will be John, chapter 3, and it is Jesus Explains Born Again. Now, if you want to hear the story before which, i did it in week 8, which episode, which is episode 8, the title of that episode was A Conversation with Jesus.

Juantrell Lovette:

Now, as I'm diving into week 47 and I'm able to go over the chapter that I went over in week 8,. I'm very intrigued and interested to see what God is speaking to me today about John, chapter 3, the way he explains born again. I know for some people, a lot of us, don't understand that terminology and that term born again, because obviously you cannot enter into your parent womb and be born again. But let's get into the story and dive into it and see what God is talking to you about, because he talked to us individually about the word, not even the word, the term, born again. So grab your Bibles Again. we'll be in John, chapter 3.

Juantrell Lovette:

You can read out any version you choose to. I read out an NIV version because I have a Bible tracker here that's helping me understand where I'm going to dive deeper into it Again. You can read out any version you choose to. That's your business. But if you're ready, i am too, and let's go.

Juantrell Lovette:

Jesus teaches Nicodemus Nicodemus, i think that's his name, nicodemus, i think. I say it fast, it sounds Nicodemus, but that's the title of our chapter today. Jesus teaches Nicodemus.

Juantrell Lovette:

As we dive into Now, there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus, who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God, for no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him. Jesus replied very truly. I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. How can someone be born when they are old? Nicodemus asked Surely they could not enter a second time into their mother's womb to be born. Jesus answered Very truly. I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying you must be born again. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the spirit. How can this be?

Juantrell Lovette:

Nicodemus asked You are Israel's teacher, said Jesus. And you do not understand these things Very truly. I tell you we speak of what we know and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe. How, then, will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven, the Son of man. Just as Moses lifted up the snake into wilderness, so the Son of man must be lifted up that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. This is the verdict. Light has come into the world, but people love darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

Juantrell Lovette:

John testifies again about Jesus, verse 22. After this, jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside where he spent some time with them and baptized. Now John also was baptizing at Aenon, near Salem, because there was plenty of water and people were coming and being baptized. This was before John was put in prison. An argument developed between some of John's disciples and a certain Jew over the matters of ceremonial washing. They came to John and said to him Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan, the one you testified about, look, he is baptizing and everyone is going to him. To this John replied A person can receive only what is given from heaven. You yourselves can testify that. I said I am not the Messiah, but I am sent ahead of him. The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom awaits and listens for him and is full of joy when he hears the bride's groom's voice. That joy is mine and it is now complete. He must become greater. I must become less. The one who comes from above is above all. The one who is from the earth, belongs to the earth and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all. He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. Whoever has accepted it has certified that God is truthful, for the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God. For God gives the Son spirit without limit. The father loves the son and has placed everything in his hands. Whoever believes in the son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on them, and that's the end of our chapter. Okay, so boom, let's break it. Let's break it down.

Juantrell Lovette:

Late night, rindivis Nicodemus takes a risk. Chapter 3, verse 16. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John's gospel tightens the camera angle, closing in on a few individual faces A woman at a will, a blind man and a member of Jewish ruling council to compose an intimate, in-depth portrait of Jesus impact on others. Consider this conversation with Nicodemus, who comes to Jesus at night, possibly in order to avoid detection. He risked his reputation and safety by meeting with Jesus, whom his fellow Pharisees have sworn to kill. But Nicodemus has some burning questions. The most important question anyone could ask who are you, jesus? Have you really come from God? Jesus responds with the image of a second birth, using words that have become some of the most familiar in the Bible.

Juantrell Lovette:

One of Jesus statements has probably been memorized more than any other in the Bible. In a few words it tells the story of salvation, god's love for the world, god's gift of his son and the opportunity for anyone who believes to be saved. In verse 16, the keys to life. Evidently, some of Jesus' words to Nicodemus sink in, as his later behavior indicates. John follows this conversation with a report from John the Baptist. People are questioning the radical prophet about the new teacher who is drawing all the crowds. In words that echo Jesus' own, john confirms that Jesus hold the key to eternal life. Jesus is indeed the one John has come to herald. A great prophet still is his prime. John nonetheless bows to Jesus. He must become greater. I must become less. In chapter 3, verse 30, life question How would you explain the term born again to someone who has never heard it?

Juantrell Lovette:

Well, i wouldn't at first know how to explain born again, because it has been thrown out so much in church And people just saying it.

Juantrell Lovette:

You know I'm born again, but they still may do the same thing that they have done prior to being born again. So how would I explain the word born again? My thing is when you do something that is not right, maybe you still lie or kill or, you know, do deceitful things to sabotage your way of life Or sabotage your way of getting whatever it is that you may want or whatever it is maybe it could be wrong. When you commit yourself over and decide to be born again, you no longer commit those types of crimes. You no longer could do certain things like tell those lies or have those urges to want to hurt somebody or feel the way that you once did. People literally explain in a way that I could tell somebody. Before I got born again I didn't have a problem with sitting up gossiping, talking about people. I didn't have a problem with feeling bad for myself or talking bad about myself or other people. I never had a problem, before being born again, with turning up smoking.

Juantrell Lovette:

Having my way, i'm not saying that you have to stop any of that once you're born again. But it goes for me as far as like actions, taking certain actions, certain actions that I used to take prior to being born again. I don't take those actions. I pay more attention to details when it comes to me, the things that I believe in, how I'm speaking over my life, how I'm speaking over other people, those come from a place where you actually born again. You go into wanting a relationship with Jesus or wanting to understand what God is doing in your life, So you start to really dissect yourself, so that you can understand how God is operating for you, so that you can do the right thing. And this can be anything when it comes to just dealing with people or dealing with yourself. You could be working on your finances, you could be working on your health, you could be working on your relationships with people. But to be born again is basically not thinking how you used to think, not behaving how you used to behave, Not probably creating drama like you probably used to do. I don't know, i don't know your story. I'm just saying how I would explain being born again to somebody. I would literally tell them my experience And when I got back from my life I was like I'm not going to be born again, baptized, obviously when I was just a young girl. It's kind of thrown on you if you are a church goer, especially in a black community Like if you go to church, you will get baptized in your early stages. I don't even know if it's just for black people this would be for anybody but when you go to church you get baptized in your early stages. But then you have an opportunity and a chance to get baptized again. And for me, when I got baptized again this time it was something. It was like a life-changing experience for me. It's like I can't even say like a 3D, 4d lens on my life and on other people. I started to really sense energy more and started to see people, heart more and my own self and started to lighten up on myself because I knew that God was just in full control, because I was born again And I can honestly say, like today, yes, i'm born again, but it just again. It falls back onto my actions. It falls back onto how I treat people, how I act and how I deal and how I fall on God. You know how I lean on him how I believe that Jesus came and died for my sins. Like just that long is like that's a lot, because people really don't believe that. And like it says, if you don't believe that God sent his son, you are already condemned. And the fact that I believe that Jesus came I'm not condemned because Jesus already came and did something for me where I don't have to feel guilty about And that was sent from God. It gives me that sense of understanding and know that, like when you're born again, you really got God on your side. God is really fighting your battles, like you could really fall on God, you could really talk to God and you could really become friends with God in that new relationship.

Juantrell Lovette:

Prior to being born again, i didn't wanna get close to God. I didn't wanna talk to God. I didn't wanna express how I felt about certain things going on in my life or other people. I didn't want the help from God And I didn't realize how much I needed the help and I needed to feel that comfort or that peace or that love coming from God so that I could dish it out to other people.

Juantrell Lovette:

And that was me being born again. Because I'm born again, i'm able to look at somebody's heart and see that they may need to be prayed for, i could step in on somebody and talk to God on their behalf, because they may want a relationship with God but they don't know how to get one. So I'm doing my due diligence because I'm born again and I have that relationship with Jesus that I could talk to him about somebody else, just stuff like that. that would just kinda help somebody understand that when you're born again, you're actually doing something that God wants you to do by being a vessel that he could use in this world. And that's just how I see it.

Juantrell Lovette:

Like I could be wrong. I'm not a preacher, i'm not a prophesier, i'm not. But I do take the Bible and I take the stories and I try to make them make sense for me because, like, you don't really get it but you kind of feel it. It's kind of hard to explain sometimes. But how would you explain born again to somebody who don't believe or who heard the term so much and they just don't get it? Like, how would you explain the term born again to someone who has never heard it? Because it's easier said.

Juantrell Lovette:

And then, when people get to talking about Jesus or God, and how do you feel when people actually come to you and say, oh, have you been born again? Like, but if you've been born again, are you still robbing or are you still stealing, or are you still having the thoughts of negativity in your mind that you may wanna hurt somebody or hurt yourself, like all of that plays a part and plays a role in to being born again. So not only do you have to be born again by spirit, but also by water. For me it happened spiritually first. Spiritually, i felt like God was trying to get my attention, like the higher power. I didn't always think I like like the higher power was trying to protect me and get my attention and give me a place to rest.

Juantrell Lovette:

And before I was born again it was just like something that just was trying to keep me, to like to avoid getting in the Bible or even about my life, which was so crazy. Cause when I started reading books, when I started reading like inspirational books or books about yourself and things like that, always in my books they will talk about God in a way that scientists couldn't understand how this being was so in charge of all even science, you know And that just really kind of made me really want to go into the Bible, because books outside of the Bible were still talking about the Bible, and so it just made me really like take a step and say you know what? I need to really go into the Bible and hear these stories for myself. Not just hear them in church, not just hear what the preacher is throwing out and putting their context on it, but actually going into the Bible and reading stories and letting God have the Holy Spirit deliver the message to me. It made me start doing that, and so that's how podcasts of Blessed Be Us became the Bible study class, because it's just like I want to share the Bible with my cousins, my family, my friends, because what God is doing for me being born again is it's a beautiful thing.

Juantrell Lovette:

I could be going like lately, every day something's been going on in my life, like one thing after the next, something bad that's just been happening, one thing after the next, and I could be like all stressed out and going crazy, like pulling my hair out, because that's how I feel deep, deep down inside that I just want to scream and just run away and be so mad at life. But my relationship with God has really relaxed me. It's brought me to an understanding that, you know, give me the courage to change things that I can change, and to understand when I can't. Like that's a big deal for me, because I know that there's some things in life that I just can't change and I can't work with. But when it comes to me, it's like relying on God is like super big for me, super huge for me. So I think that's a reward in being born again, being able to feel that relaxed calmness and a midst of chaos, it's like what? How could you be so calm? and everything is going crazy, you know. Well, that's the reward of being born again. It's the gift of it. It's beautiful. So, you guys, that's the end of our chapter. I hope you guys enjoyed the story.
